Jonathan Beacon, Orthopaedic Surgeon, the Elms Consulting RoomsI have developed a specialism in knee joint surgery. For over 15 years I have reconstructed major knee ligaments using methods of repair, reconstruction with artifical and autogenous material in acute and chronic situations. I have also been involved in improving instruments for the implantation of artificial knee joints, incorporating rotating platforms.
I film all my operations and provide patients with a CD of their procedure.

Research & Special clinical interests Investigation of knee biomechanics and development of artificial ligaments. He pioneered with Professor Laboureau in France new operations to stabilise multi-ligament damaged knees. This system is called the LARS ligaments, which are made from polyester. * See PCL Concept paper. Designed specialist knee instrumentation for the anatomical placement of artificial joints within the scope of the natural ligaments. This is used to implant, with the self-aligning extra medullary instruments, an artificial knee joint which has a plastic "cartilage" system; the Corin Rotaglide Beacon Total Knee Replacement. Developed an operation for bunions with Mr Alec Benjamin to provide a natural looking foot without any screws, pins or bony interference with the great toe joint. This is known as a Stamm-McBride procedure.
